Phoenix (November 30, 2006) – As the PrePass system closes its first decade of operation, its tally of dollar savings for motor carriers passed the billion dollar level in October 2006. In addition to the dollar saving for motor carriers, the system has helped contribute to the vital public goals of reduced fuel consumption, cleaner air and safer roads.
“It has taken us a decade to produce our first $ 1 billion in savings for the industry. However, at our current rate of growth, we expect to reach the $2 billion level within about 48 months ” according to Richard P. Landis, president and CEO of HELP Inc, the public-private partnership that offers PrePass®.
Savings are estimated based on reductions in fuel consumption, driver and equipment time savings and other industry operation cost reductions.
