Expand All | Collapse All What is GatePass? GatePass is a fully-integrated gate control access and management system, which lets drivers enter and exit terminals using the same windshield-mounted transponder they use to bypass PrePass weigh stations. In addition to the convenience to drivers, GatePass provides effective tools to help fleet managers handle their operations more efficiently. What do I get with the purchase of a GatePass system? A. On-site engineering study B. Primary Hardware 1. Antenna(s) 2. Reader(s) 3. Computer & Modem 4. GatePass Software 5. VNC Remote Software C. Installation D. Warranty E. Service and Support How does the GatePass process begin? The initial step is to conduct an engineering study. The study will require an ACS Engineer to visit the property to obtain the necessary data required to build a site plan and proposal. The final version of the site plan and proposal will be given to the customer for review. This process takes about 2-3 weeks.
If the carrier chooses to not purchase a GatePass system after the engineering study has been completed, the carrier will be assessed a $1500 engineering study fee. How long does the process take? Once the site survey is completed, the next step is installation. The client may be required to perform some pre-installation site preparation. Once this is done, the installation and testing generally take 1 week to complete, with a 2-week lead time. On what platform was the GatePass software developed? GatePass software is Linux-based. Can GatePass operate only through a PrePass Transponder? No, GatePass can operate through third party transponders such as BESTPASS, Oregon Green Light, and NORPASS. If you have devices from agencies outside the ones listed, please contact the GatePass Product Manager to determine compatibility. Does a unit need to be active in PrePass or PrePass Plus to work? No, due to a “local administration” feature, individual local units (those which do not pass scales and therefore do not require PrePass) can be added at the customer’s discretion.
Additional transponders for staff and/or local vehicles can be purchased for a minimal fee. How are transfers, additions, and deletions managed? Since you already make these updates to the PrePass Service Center, there is no additional work that you will need to do. All changes that are received into the PrePass Service Center will automatically be updated to your local GatePass system on a weekly basis.
If you have local vehicles that are not enrolled in PrePass, you can manage those transactions on your local database without having to contact the PrePass Service Center.
What information is in the detailed reports? Reports can list terminal location, unit number, driver number (if driver is assigned to a specific unit), date, time, and direction (entry/exit). Individual transaction reports can be downloaded as an export file, placed on a storage device, and then formatted on a separate PC. Can the GatePass software be accessed from a remote location? Yes, if the customer has a real-time connection to the terminal in question, such as a T1 line or satellite link. Without real-time connection, at a minimum the GatePass system can be accessed from any area in the terminal. The terminal need only have an established local area network (LAN) in order to enjoy this feature. Can this software interface with transportation management software? Yes, we can design delivery of flat files (a downloadable format) to a TMS system. At present, we have an interface built with an AS400 (db2 database). Who do I contact with questions? For general questions about the system you can contact your Regional Sales Manager. You may also contact the GatePass Product Manager at 602-412-2036 or by e-mail at gatepass@acs-inc.com.
