Field Descriptions

Total Trucks In Fleet
The total number of trucks owned and/or leased.

Monthly PrePass Service Fee (Per Truck)
The monthly PrePass flat rate per truck for unlimited bypassing.

Average Monthly Bypasses (For All Trucks)
Trucks enrolled in PrePass average 12 successful weigh station bypasses per month as of November, 2007.

Average Fuel Cost (Price Per Gallon)
The average retail diesel price per gallon.

Time Savings
According to Iowa State University’s Center for Transportation Research and Education, the average time savings per bypass is approximately 5 minutes.

Fuel Savings
According to Iowa State University Center for Transportation Research and Education, a truck may save up to 0.4 of a gallon of fuel with each successful bypass. Fuel Cost Savings is found by multiplying Average Fuel Cost by the number of gallons of fuel saved.

Operating Cost Savings
Based on an October 2007 FMCSA study (Economic Analysis and Business Case for Motor Carrier Industry Support of CVISN), operating cost savings were estimated to be approximately $8.68 per bypass. Operating costs include, but are not limited to: vehicle maintenance, driver's wages, administrative costs, insurance, etc.
